Upgrade your career search … online resume hosting.

How many times have you had to produce a resume only to find out that it is outdated and not able to send it to a prospective employer?  I think I have found a solution.  In the spirit of being your own Career CEO, I would like to share a site that is very good at hosting your resume in such a way that prospective employers can Download and view your up-to-date resume at anytime.  The professional resume templates allow the user to try out different looks without all the reformatting of a text editor.  Best of all it is FREE.

The site is www.emurse.com.  For an example, you can look at my resume (updated of course) at http://bradrholt.emurse.com

Resume Tips:

  1. Update your resume every quarter.  Make sure that you put your latest accomplishments and results on it.  Even if you are not looking for a job.
  2. Make sure you mention projects you worked on.  Many times a prospective employers (managers) know the projects you work on more than who worked on them. Focus on Results, not job responsibilities.
  3. Circulate your resume, ask for feedback, ask for recommendations.
  4. Update it again.

Make sure you are using the best tools online when promoting yourself.  However, do not let this take the place of a resume when waling into an interview.  Always make sure you have a clean printed copy of your resume for review.
